Thanos Hotels & Resorts joined the Tourism Cares initiative on Friday, 25 September 2026, as team members from Almyra, Annabelle and Antasia, together with the group's management team, took part in island-wide clean-up activities to mark World Tourism Day.
An Island-Wide Effort for Cleaner Destinations
Tourism Cares: Unite for a Cleaner Destination is organised by the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative (CSTI) under its Keep our Sand and Sea Plastic Free programme. The action is held under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and supported by the Cyprus Hotel Association (PASYXE), bringing hoteliers, businesses and communities together around a shared goal.
The initiative has grown year on year. In 2024, 60 businesses and organisations and more than 1,650 participants removed over 1.5 tonnes of waste. In 2025, the figures climbed to 75 businesses and organisations, more than 2,250 participants and around 2.3 tonnes of waste collected.
Sustainable Hospitality Beyond Our Hotels
Volunteers were encouraged to use reusable gloves, containers and cups in place of single-use items, putting plastic-free principles into practice on the ground. For Thanos Hotels & Resorts, bringing hotel and management teams together for the day reflects a wider commitment to corporate social responsibility, environmental protection and the local communities where the group operates. Across its portfolio, the group sees sustainable hospitality as something that reaches beyond the hotel walls, into active care for the natural landscapes that make Cyprus a destination worth protecting.
