Thanos Hotels and Resorts to launch a dazzling new beach club and restaurant in June 2021 on beautiful Kato Paphos beach

Antasia Beach Club, just a short stroll from Hotel Almyra and Annabelle Hotel, will bring a new kind of breezy, beachfront experience to the shores of Cyprus. Blended into the golden dunes of one of the island’s most beautiful beaches, this latest innovation from Thanos Hotels and Resorts combines extraordinary architecture and nature-led design with a laid-back, sophisticated day-to-night vibe, tipping it to become one of the most talked-about beach destinations of the season.

A day-to-night experience
With uninterrupted views of sand, sea and sky, this contemporary take on the classic beach club seamlessly moves from morning to night. This is a place to relax with a morning coffee, linger over a family lunch overlooking the waves, and spend sultry afternoons on the rustic wood-hewn day beds on the sand. As the sun sinks into the sea, guests can congregate for stylish dinners, or dance beneath the stars to the latest DJs with a signature cocktail in hand.

Innovative architecture
The pioneering design, a minimalist sweep of stone and glass built to harmoniously meld with the natural surroundings, is by up-and-coming Cypriot architecture studio Psomas. Built using an intuitive amphitheatre design, the magnificent sea views take centre stage. With two floors of effortless indoor-outdoor lounging and dining, guests ascend an impressive floating spiral staircase that leads to an extensive roof terrace looking onto Paphos Castle.

Interiors, designed by Baranowitz + Kronenberg (known for the W Hotels in Ibiza, Amsterdam and Prague) are inspired by the raw natural elements, using a playful white-scale design to reflect the life of the sea. The custom-made furniture, including simple sun-bleached driftwood tables, draws on a calmly neutral palette to complement the coastal elements. White terrazzo flooring echoes the hue of seafoam as it hits the sand, a striking contrast to the exposed concrete ceiling.
“When designing Antasia, we immediately knew where we wanted to take this,” commented Alon Baranowitz and Irene Kronenberg, co-founders of Baranowitz + Kronenberg. “We wanted to create a space infused in its surroundings, paying tribute to the sea and its deep cultural ties to this incredible coastal city.”

Fusion flavours
Combining delicious locally-sourced ingredients with an Asian flair, Antasia’s menu will move effortlessly from morning to noon to night. Curated by Hungarian chef Akos Richweisz, under the supervision of award-winning David Goodridge, dishes draw on a range of exotic influences, from a spicy cashew nam prik dip, to freshly-rolled maki, sushi and sashimi. The signature shrimp burger, served with papaya and mango, is given a zesty twist, as is the fiery gai tod chicken with lime and coriander on banana leaves, while vegan additions such as marinated tofu salad with wakame and ponzu keep things fresh and contemporary.
