Paphos Climate
Paphos is the main town on the west coast of Cyprus and has its own international airport. In the last few years Paphos has become one of the most popular resorts on the island. There are many places of historical and archaeological interest that are included in UNESCO's World Heritage List and, according to the myths, Paphos was the home of Aphrodite, the goddess of love. The weather in Paphos is typical for all coastal cities in Cyprus where, due to the sea, summers are cooler and winters are warmer than inland. However, the marine influence is the strongest here on the west coast. This means in the hot season it is slightly cooler in Paphos than in other cities along the coastline. On average temperature in the hottest months of the year, July and August, goes up to 30°C at daytime which is about 3°C less than in other coastal cities and 7°C less than inland. At night it rarely drops below 20°C. Temperatures for January and February are between 8°C at night and 17°C at daytime. Polis Chrysochous Climate Flanked by the Akamas peninsula and Chrysochous bay, you will find the charming town of Polis. Once the site of one of the ten city kingdoms of Cyprus, Polis is located about a forty minute drive north of Paphos. Chrysochous bay and the nearby Akamas peninsula provide a stunning backdrop for this charming fishing town. Summer Sunshine If you're a sun worshipper then you won't be disappointed by the weather in Polis during the summer months. June to August sees Polis receiving around 13 hours of 32C sunshine, but in late July and early August temperatures can reach as high as 43C. The high temperatures make the Polis beaches perfect for sunbathing, and the sea is warm enough for all day swimming and watersports. In September and October the temperatures are still around the 30C mark and give around nine hours of sunshine per day. Further inland the summer temperatures will be even higher and have been known to hit around 48C.
Winter Weather Cyprus is known as the island of sun and it is no different in the winter. December to February sees temperatures of around 18C and you will still gain around five hours of sunshine per day. An April Easter break in Polis will see you topping up a tan with eight hours of sunshine per day and temperatures hitting 24C. There is very little rainfall in Polis, usually around 20 days per year between December and February.
